After a period as a flying instructor for the Butte Aircraft Corp. he joined United Airlines as a co-pilot, and later still joined Northwest Airlines as First Officer and then became a Captain at Northwest. Mark and Kathleen had a son (adopted). Sadly, he died at a young age in a skydiving accident.
